SUMMARY:The Corbières & Lagrasse
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n[vc_column_text]This wine tour to the Corbières region will take you to a magical place of contrasts where cicadas sing\, and buzzards circle lazily against a blue sky above the wild and windswept Corbières hills. The vineyards are perched on rocky hillsides and the roads wind round and round as we make our way towards our first vineyard visit in the heart of the Cru Boutenac. This is an area dedicated to the culture of the vine since Roman times and currently the only cru in the Corbières. We will take a walk through the vines\, some of them more than a century old. We will also enjoy a tour of the winery which is ancient but modernised to use the latest techniques to produce fabulous Corbières wines. The award-winning reds are made from a blend of Carignan\, Grenache\, Mourvèdre and Syrah and the whites from Grenache Blanc\, Marsanne and Rousanne. \nAfter an extensive tasting of Corbières and Corbières-Boutenac wines we will head for the beautiful village of Lagrasse to enjoy a delicious lunch accompanied by wine from the Corbières.\nAfter lunch you will take a fascinating stroll around Lagrasse which is one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France and learn some of the history that spans at least 1000 years. Your route will take you along the narrow cobbled ‘ruelles’ and along the way\, between the town and the abbey\, in squares and behind facades\, there are stories to be told and a fascinating medieval history to be revealed. You will have the chance to take a browse through some of the small boutiques and also visit the vinegar maker and taste his wares.\nNow it’s time to head off to our final visit of the day in a nearby village and in a different part of the Corbières than our morning visit. You will see how terroir makes a difference and meet a passionate wine maker producing top quality Corbières wines from a small artisanal winery. \nIf you prefer to join other people on a scheduled tour\, The Corbières & Lagrasse full day tour is available on Mondays. Price €140 per person \n\n Book Now\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Gourmet Tour to Narbonne & Gruissan
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n[vc_column_text]The doors to Les Halles in Narbonne opened in 1901\, on Cour Mirabeau facing the Canal de la Robine\, and is something of an iconic landmark in the ancient city of Narbonne – First Daughter of Rome. It is here that one of the finest markets in southern France takes place every day of the week.\nThe list of producers and artisans to be found in Les Halles for a food lover reads a little like the 12 Days of Christmas : 10 butchers\, 8 fruit & veg vendors\, 7 herbs & spices sellers\, 6 fishmongers… the list extends to some 70 stallholders ! And this is where we start our tour. A feast for the eyes\, as well as the taste buds\, we pay a visit to a ‘traiteur’ for olives\, garlic confit\, and anchoide tastings; then on to a cheesemonger where we’ll buy a couple of varieties of cheese to take with us to a honey producer\, to experience a fabulous taste sensation !\nNext stop is a little pre-lunch apéro… accompanied by a plate of fabulous charcuterie. Then we re-join our tour bus\, and head down to the coast\, passing the lagoons and inland waterways to reach our second stop – the salt pans at Gruissan.\nLocated at the water’s edge is both our destination for lunch\, and the Salt Museum; lunch is a pescatarian’s delight. Oysters…shrimp…whelk served up with aioli and fresh bread\, and followed by fish\, baked in a salt crust and all washed down with a pichet of local wine. We then stroll across to the salt museum\, where amongst the list of little gifts to buy is salt\, scented with herbs and spices\, salted caramel\, and even little salt pigs – how better to remember your day out when you’re back in your kitchen at home?\nBack on the tour bus\, and a short hop to a charming winery in the heart of the La Clape appellation where we learn all about the wines that grow on this stony land. This is where the Romans planted their vines and when you taste these wines you’ll understand why they are so special.\nThis is a fabulous day in the Languedoc for foodies and wine lovers. Wine.. Salt.. Bread.. Fish.. plus a host of tasty treats along the way\, it’s a Roman Holiday a la Francaise. \nThis gourmet tour is available on Thursdays. Price €135 per person \n\n Book Now\n \n [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Minerve & the Minervois
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n[vc_column_text]The beautiful Minervois region is a short drive from Carcassonne and an area of outstanding beauty. Some of the most picturesque vineyards in the Languedoc wine region are found here as well as some of the finest wines. This is where Languedoc’s first cru was created around the village of La Livinière\, the place the wine is named after. It takes its name from an ancient hilltop village where the vines were first cultivated by the Romans. \nWe start the day with a visit to a top-class winery in the cru appellation where you will learn what it is that makes this wine so special. You will enjoy a private visit to the winery and follow this with a superb tasting of these delicious wines. Following this visit and tasting we will take a stroll through one of the oldest vineyards in the area and see how the vines grow and are cared for. \nNext stop is lunch which is always a special part of the day and is a delicious 3 courses accompanied by wines of the region. Sometimes it’s an alfresco lunch and at other times we eat at a village restaurant enjoying local cuisine using seasonal and local produce. After this delicious meal we visit the beautiful village of Minerve which is a tiny historical village perched on a limestone rock surrounded by deep gorges. You will have some free time to explore and your guide will tell you about the Cathar siege that took place here 800 years ago. \nNow it’s time to visit the 2nd winery of the day which will provide us with a great contrast to the morning visit. Here they also make delicious Minervois wines but grown on slightly different terroir to our morning visit and this will provide us with the opportunity to see how much the growing conditions can affect the style of the wine. We will taste the range of red\, rosé and white wines and discover the Languedoc grape varieties including Syrah (Shiraz)\, Grenache and Carignan plus the delicious white wine made from the a wide range of grapes including Grenache blanc\, Marsanne and Viognier. \n\n\n Book now\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Canal du Midi Wine Tour
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n[vc_column_text]This varied tour begins with a visit to a local olive oil producer where we learn how the olives are harvested and pressed to produce delicious oils. Languedoc olive oil was famed until the big freeze in the spring of 1956 when many of the trees died so it is a delight to see this very traditional produce returning to the region. \nFrom the olive mill we take the short drive to the village of Le Somail\, one the prettiest ports along the Canal du Midi where we join our boat for a 1 hour private cruise and along the way we will entertain you with a delicious tasting of Languedoc wines and tell you the story of the Canal. \nLunch is always a very special part of our tours and today you will enjoy a 3-course meal in the Minervois countryside made from fresh and local ingredients. \nNow it’s time to take the pretty drive through the Occitanie countryside to visit one of the finest wine producers of Minervois wines in the Languedoc where we will enjoy a private tour of the winery and learn how the wines are grown and made. This is followed by a delicious tasting of their expressive wines. \nThe Canal du Midi full day Wine tour is available on Saturdays. Price €155 per person \n\n Book Now\n \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Cathar Castles & Roussillon Wines
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column]\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n[vc_column_text]This tour offers you the chance to visit two of the ‘Cathar Castles’; Châteaux Quéribus and Peyreperteuse that are located on the southern border of the Corbières. It’s quite a long drive to reach this area from Carcassonne so we take the Autoroute towards Perpignan and en-route we get to see the lagoons that divide the land from the Mediterranean. \nWhen we leave the fast road\, we drive through some breath-taking scenery to reach the village of Maury nestling in the Agly Valley. Here we visit one of the finest producers of Côtes de Roussillon wines as well as delicious sweet Maury\, the chefs’ choice for pairing with chocolate. We will enjoy a private tour of the cellar where we will explain how the wines are made and then take a look at the impressive barrel room and finish off with a fabulous tasting of the Côtes de Roussillon red and white wines and the delicious sweet Maury. Possibly some of the most interesting wines in this part of the South of France. \nNow it’s time to head for the Château Quéribus perched on the top of a limestone bluff overseeing the valleys on either side. We take the steep walk up to view it and if it’s a clear day it’s one of the best vantage points in the area. After this visit we take the short drive to the little village of Cucugnan made famous by Alphonse Daudet in his book ‘Letters from my Windmill’ published in 1869 where he wrote the lovely tale of the Curé de Cucugnan. We will enjoy a delicious lunch at an Auberge in the village that serves local traditional dishes. \nYour guide will regale you with some of the history of the Cathar’s as we head for the Château Peyreperteuse perched high with views across the spectacular scenery. Make sure you wear your walking boots or trainers for the steep walk up to the castle which is a bit of a hike\, but you are well rewarded for your efforts. \nNow it’s time to turn for home. It’s a long day but well worth it in order to see these impressive castles\, learn about the Cathars who took refuge in them and taste superb Roussillon wines.\nThe price is all-inclusive of our VeV wine & history expert\, pickup and transport\, a winery visit and tasting\, delicious lunch with wine and entrance fees into both castles. \nThe Cathar Castles & Roussillon Wines tour is available on Sundays. Price €155 per person \n\n Book Now\n \nPlease be aware that these spectacular castles are perched high on top of mountains and although we can drive very close to them the walk to reach them is steep and some people may find it difficult. It is essential that you wear either walking shoes\, trainers or very comfortable and flat s shoes with good grip. Customers walk up to the castles at their own risk.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
